    C2 ORIGINAL EXHAUST MANIFOLD NUTS

I have a set of what I guess you refer to as "self locking" manifold nuts that are stainless, for a '67. I was wondering if they were originally stainless, cad or zinc plated.

    Rob -

The original "acorn" nuts were either natural or zinc-plated (can't remember which is correct) - stainless would not be correct.

John/Rob - They were plated, most likely zinc to protect them prior to installation; but it didn't take long one the engine was run before they were rusted at least in Illinois in the old days. Pete
