    C2 TIE ROD END FINISH

Having seen various ways tie rod ends are finished during restoration.... painted, bare cast, etc., I was wondering with regard to judging, what the correct original finsh is considered to be.

    Rob -

The C2 steering linkage (relay rod, inner and outer tie rods, sleeves, and clamps) was painted with the gooey "chassis black" paint as an assembly at Chevrolet-Buffalo (with plastic caps protecting the outer tie rod studs) prior to shipment to St. Louis.

      Rob,

The 66 judging manual states that the entire steering linkage (i.e. inner tie rod ends, tie rods and outer ends, including all clamps are to be semi gloss black). I would assume that all C2 manuals state the same.
