Original DuPont code was 4395-L if that helps.

I just completed a body off on my 1963 Daytona Blue convertible. If you're not hung up on laquer or Dupont, I highly recommend Sikkens Autobase system. The clearcoat produced hardly any orange peel and buffed out to beautiful shine.

          DuPont is dead

          Steve -

DuPont's current formula for this color lacquer does not match the '63-4 shade. I know. I bought two gallons of it without testing first. It is based on DuPont's current lacquer mixing shades, and their metallic particles are too large.

I can give you the right formula in modern PPG lacquer if that is of interest to you. Let me know if you want me to look it up.

I posted this before useing todays metallic particles change the color dramatically even useing the original formula. You must ask or find the early stuff weather your useing two stage or lacquer.

Jerry, thanks for reply. Is this the formula you posted on 23 dec 2002? You said dont use too much or too large metal flakes,is the correct amount in this formula, or something to tell the paint store? Have any of you dayton blue guys tried this? thanks, Steve
