67 BIG BLOCK REAR SWAY BAR BUSHINGS

I am looking for suggestions on the easiest way to install bushings in the sway bar and links on a big block. I do not have a press. (I was going to put them in the freezer and then try to put them in place with a hammer and socket).

Re: BB Rear Sway Bar Link Bushings

I share your pain; when I removed the remnants of the originals from my '65, I noticed that the outer "shell" was thinner than the replacements. I'd suggest sanding or grinding a little (on the bushing assy) and maybe heating the link, fitting a proper size socket over the bushing and hammer into place. Others may have better tricks.

Place the assy in a vise and using a socket for clearances squeeze the bushing into place. Just did mine a few weeks ago. Note the correct orientation of the bushing flange as a you assemble....
