    1972 Body mounts

I am in the process of collecting parts for an eventual body lift on
my 72. The car is going to be a driver but I still will probably have the car judged. My question is what type of body mount would be best in this
situation, a stock mount or a urethane mount? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Jim
While I am one of the few that seems to like urethane suspension bushings urethane body mounts / cushions transmit way too much inpact to the body and, hence the driver.
    Personally I'd avoid them
    Best of Luck

      Hi Jim,

To be honest,I have never tried urethane bushings but I have looked into the pros and cons back when I was thinking about trying them. To use them in your suspention would be okay(the judge will likely notice them though)if you don't mind the increase in road noise, but for the body mounts I think you would be far better off to isolate that road noise from the body with the proper stock mounts.

Aren't the stock factory body mounts a solid piece of aluminum anyway?

I'm not sure...I assumed that they were rubber like most vehicles. I know that there is an aluminum spacer and I thought that it was used with a rubber mount. I'm getting ready to pull the body off of my 69,so I guess I'll find out for sure in a few weeks.

Thanks for your input guys, I think I will stay with the stock mounts.
Hey Greg if you read this I would be interested in what method you will
use to remove your 69 body.

Solid alum--my 72 convertible had them and they were nearly broken down into to dust. Originality, solid alum. Cushioned ride--go soft.
