1968 Windshield Trim "silver-colored sealant"

Ref: 1968-1969 Technical Manual / Judging Guide Pg. 26 "The windshield is surrounded on three sides by polished stainless steel trim. The upper molding on both the coupe and convertible is composed of two pieces that often have a silver-colored sealant between them."
Can anyone recommend the correct silver-colored sealant to use for this application?

Haven't had my 68 apart yet, but my 70 I have. What I used in this area between the metal trim is a product made by 3M called strip chalk. You can purchase it at some auto parts stores but I don't think Auto Zone or Advance Auto carry it. I bought mine from an auto paint supply store. It is called strip chalk because it is packed in a box as strips about the size of a big worm on a waxed paper and there are multiple layers. I used this strip chalk on my 70 and then since this chalk is paintable, I painted it black. This was about 13-14 years ago and its still okay. It doesn't harden, the shape can be changed if something was to dig into it. I guess you could use silver paint and see how you like it. I don't know what the silver stuff is that originally came on my 68, but I would use the strip chalk on it if I ever had to replace it.

3-M makes a sealer that is brushable and is grey in color. It can be gotten at paint supply houses. It is in a blue and white can. I used it on a 1970 and it worked great!
