What is the proper part number for the water pump on my 1967 327/350 roadster, that was built 5/22/67? The water pump on the car is 3859326, which I think is original, but may have been replaced in the first couple of years.

Scott----
GM casting # 3859326 is correct for your car. This pump has the drilled and tapped boss on the upper part of the casting for the "external" bypass. If I recall correctly, the version of the 3859326 casting which is correct for your car uses a 1/2" NPT fitting on the upper boss. Later pumps of this casting number use a 3/4" NPT fitting. In order to use the correct elbow, if one has the 3/4" fitting pump, an adapter must be used. Some judges, I've been told, salivate at the thought of finding cars with thread adapters. However, there are ways to install the adapter so no one is the wiser. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: water pump part number 67 327/350HP
To add to Joe Lucia's solid advice, there are early/late '326' castings. Early castings came into Corvettedom around Oct/Nov '63 and had no cast date. This lasted until roughly Nov '65 ('66 MY) when casting dates began to appear on the LH front of the pump opposite the casting number.
Very early 326 casting with date have a 'shallow' appearance where the numbers simply rise from the body. Later runs (can't say exactly when) begin to 'rise' with the casting date numbers obviously atop a 'pad' above the pump's body surface.- Top
