    ELECTRO PLATING SYSTEM

I tried using the Eastwood "tin-zinc electroplating" system discussed in an old restorer issue. It works very nicely, even just using the two "D cell" power system that comes with the kit. You can control how shiny the results are by how much you buff it after it is plated. I replated an original R15 radiator cap and it came out great. I highly recommend it for small part restoration. One of the few products I've tried that actually worked as well as advertised.

    Re: ELECTRO PLATING SYSTEM

Glad to hear that it does a good job. I was going to buy this kit but Eastwood won't ship it to Canada. Does anyone know of a kit available in Canada or know of the methods and materials of this kit so that maybe I could purchase the components locally?

        Re: Kit contains..

The kit contains a small battery, 2 flat bars of zinc or cad., two wires with aligator clips on each end(one poss. and one neg.), a cleaner/ degreaser fluid, and a pint of battery acid. You can get all of these items separately.

          Bob,
Can you elaborate on the battery acid? Can one buy this bottled somewhere? I've always wondered if one could make his own kit. Where did you find the bars of zinc or cad?
          Thanks,
          Ron

I bought some battery acid from Napa a few years ago. I have also gotten some at battery stores or places that service golf carts.
