    Holley Carb Date Codes

I need my memory refreshed on Holley date codes, original vs replacement/service carbs.

Aren't the originals in this format: Year/Month/Week, such as 642, and service replacements: day/month/year, such as 5A8?

If the 5A8 example above is not day/month/year, what is it?

How were replacements dated differently from originals?

    thanks, Everett

My 66 judging manual says: Quote

1st digit refers to the last digit of the calendar year ("5" or "6" for 1965 or 1966); 2nd character represents the month ("1" through "9" indicates January through September, "0" represents October, "A" is November, and "B" is December), and the 3rd digit represents the week of the month ("1" through "5") Example: "5A3" would be the 3rd week of November, 1965.

A table follows that. Hope this helps.

Hi Everett: I believe that the service replacements are Julian dated, and that originals are dated as Gary describes from the judging manual. An example of a Julian date, from one of my service replacement Holley tripower carbs is 1509. This "translates" to the 150th. day of 1969, or maybe 79, or maybe even 89. Hope this helps. I'm certainly no Holley expert. Chuck Gongloff
