I am confused, the ignition key on my 59 fits trunk and stowage compartment. I believe thats proper, but what should the key physically look like? I have one thats round on top and says "GM your key to greater value". Is the corect key needed in flight judgeing? Thanks Bill

Re: 59Vette Ignition key????
Bill - I belive Ed is correct on the use of the one octagon end key head. That key was used on all keyways up thru 1966 although a round end key head with the same keyway was introduced in 1965. So in 1965 and thereafter GM cars had the two keys. I would expect the octagon end key head to have GM (stamped, GM logo) and YOUR KEY TO GREATER VALUE (embossed) on one side (that side will also have the words KNOCK OUT (embossed) below the key ring hole) and the other side will have BRIGGS & STRATTON CORPORATION (embossed) and MILWAUKEE WIS. U.S.A (embossed) and the key code (a 4 digit number will be stamped on that side on the KNOCK OUT piece). There might be variations on the size of the information stamped and embossed on the key head depending on the vintage of the key. Pete- Top
