Hello,I need some help. I have a 1962 FI car built in October of 1961. Currently, I have no air cleaner for the fuel injection system, and I want to purchase the correct one. After reading the Noland Adams book I feel the correct one would be the 1962 air cleaner not the 1961 air cleaner even though the car is an early car. What do you think?

I own 62 #2272 an original F.I. car. It's an early Nov. 61 car with a small X air cleaner. Rich- Top

Sorry Bill. I've owned this car for 30 years and the small X was on it when I got it. I'm aware of what the judging guide says but ?- Top

Re: C1 Fuel Injection
My 2 cents worth. Tech Manual, I believe calls out changeover from large X to small x about VIN 5200 +/-... VIN 5273 had a large X when I bought it, which fits. Can I prove it came that way? Of course not, but thought I'd mention it.- Top

Re: C1 Fuel Injection
Rich, I saw a posting from you on March, 5 in regards to the proper FI air cleaner. I own a 62 S/N #2254 an original F.I. car I think. It is also an early Nov. 61 car. You are the first member I have seen with a s/n so close to mine.. Would you mind sharing with me the info on your car? and is your radiator date stamped on the radiator or on a metal plate? Just trying to find Originality on my car.
Thanks,
Danny- Top

Re: C1 Fuel Injection
My #2266 was owned by the same person from 1965 till last year--the AC has never been off-- still has the original hose attached to the fender--it is a large X. 20 years ago, when we did the 2nd iteration of the judging manual, we documented an original owner car (5199 if I recall) that had a large X. That's the latest we've documented. We've also documented many small X cleaners earlier than that. I believe that they began phasing those in some time in November, and didn't finish the change until late December-early January.
