    c372 fan date

I am original owner 1972 base 350 vet. Was just judged 2nd flight at a regional
event. Build date is feb.22, however fan date is C72, which is March 72.
I have NEVER had the fan changed. How is this posible. The judges stated this
is not correct. I did purchase the car from the dealer in MAY of that year.
Therefore the car was at the dealership for about 3 months.
Does anyone know of a similiar posted date fan on their legimate dated car?
I also have one sholder belt (driver's side) that does not have any date stamped
on it. It also has never been changed.

There's all kinds of things that could have happened with your car before you drove it away. We judge NORMAL factory production. EVERY car out there has some unique, abnormal thing about it. If we had to stop to figure out all the senarios, we would still be judging! Maybe the fan was bent in delivery, or the bearing shot on the fan clutch and they replaced the whole assembly, and on and on.

I echo what Bob said, the possibility list is lengthy and includes the happenstance of the car being in the dealership for routine work with adjacent mechanics happening to mix-up/swap parts during their repair work.... You also might want to revisit the 'possiblity' of a judging error.

Some forget certain items went on the car during final assy and the car's Body Build Date (on the trim tag) is NOT the final assy date of the car itself! They're ususally close, but not always.... You have to interpolate the actual final assy date based on the car's VIN number.

With the two dates you mentioned (Feb vs. Mar of '72) being about a month apart, double check that this 'error' didn't happen during your car's judging! Compute the actual (approximate) build date of the car itself based on the actual VIN number and verify it's a Feb versus March car before you run to find and replace that rare, hard to find, dated A/C fan blade!
