I have no knowledge of electronic ignitions on 54's but I think I might be able to help with many of your carburetor questions, as I have "tinkered" with them for nearly 18 years. I'm strictly self taught in this area. E Mail me privately with your carb questions and I'll do my best to help out. Chuck Gongloff

        Re: 54 ELECTRONIC IGNITION.

There are several drop-in point replacement modules that convert standard GM distributors to electronic. You can find 'em in J.C. Whitney catalog as well as at many auto parts stores.

Problem you may be facing is '53-54 cars were factory stock with 6V systems (including ignition). If your car is still in its original 6V configuration, this may be a problem. Best bet is to ask various mfgrs and/or distributors of these modules about compatibility with 6V supply voltage and coil....

Ed, '54's are out of my field of expertise but I do remember seeing an ad in an antique tractor magazine for an electronic conversion for old tractor, any old Delco Remy distributor. I will attempt to find the ad, and if there are any "red or green" collectors that read this they may know the address. I believe that the vendor is Denny's Carburetor Shop.

I was looking up some parts on crane cam's web site and noticed that they offer electronic ignitions for 6 volt systems. Check it out at this address for the part numbers http://www.cranecams.com/ignition1/igsysap.htm#Antique Vehicles
