C2: Speaker removal: Tips & Tricks?

The original speaker in my '66 finally went gunny bag. I've taken the radio out for a bench test/cleaning and found it works fine. So now, any advice for removing the speaker? It's an AC car - so just wondering how much more disassembly (ducts, etc.) this will require to get the speaker out for a rebuild.

    Thanks in advance.

It is more difficult with AC. You must take the instrument cluster loose to get the left rear nut loose (because of the center AC vent). The other three are not as hard. Don H.

Does the duct have to come out? Or will the speaker drop down and out once all the fasteners are removed? Thanks for the wisdom...

If my memory is right, I believe you can get it out without removing the AC duct. The problem is the duct is below the left rear nut so you have to get to it from the side (thus the instrument cluster coming loose). Don H.

            Dan,

Don't know if I'm too late but I'd suggest if you haven't done so to first check the speaker wiring from the radio for continuity. I went through the trouble of removing my radio and speaker only to find I had a break in the radio to speaker wiring.
