John Deere Blitz Black seems to be the C2 blackout paint of choice of most posters to this forum. However, none of my local dealers carry it. Can anyone recommend a more readily available alternative, such as a particular shade of Rustoleum or Krylon? The rear wheelwell of a '66 A.O. Smith convertible is the application.
Also, was the entire wheelwell area blacked out, including the vertical surfaces adjacent to and above the wheelwell opening?
Picture a guy with a spray gun that has a fan of about 12 inches. He sticks the gun up in the fender well and sweeps one time back and forth. Thats Blackout.
The black out on my 65 only went a little more than 1/2 way down the firewall. There was a production number in white crayon on the lower right side of the firewall that was not covered with black out. As Wayne commented in an earlier post, have a few drinks of the over 21 beverage and you will probably get it right. I am not a drinker, so mine will probably not meet NCRS specifications.
