Could someone provide me with the correct specifications for a Drive Shaft Yoke that would be applicable for a 1969 3 speed? Also, resources for its purchase along with a speedometer drive gear for the same 3 speed. As a footnote, only 252 of 38762 Corvettes built in 1969 came with a 3 speed making it the rarest production 3 speed ever built. Thanks.

Re: C3 Drive Shaft Yoke

The output yoke for your 69 3 speed manual transmission is the same as that used for all 65-70 Corvette 4 speed transmissions. This yoke is of GM #3868728. It's of 26 splines and uses u-bolt u-joint attachment. Unfortunately, it's GM-discontinued. However, I think that you may be able to get an equivalent piece in the aftermarket from a driveline parts supplier. They should be able to cross-reference it from the GM number which I provided.
As far as the speedometer gears go, they are also the same as those gears used for 68-70 Corvette 4 speeds. The DRIVE gear (the gear mounted on the transmission mainshaft) is of GM #6261794. This is an 8 tooth NYLON gear and is retained to the shaft by a special clip of GM #1373122 (IF your trans and internal parts are ORIGINAL). ONLY 1968-70 Muncie 4 speeds and 68-69 Saginaw 3 speeds used the NYLON drive gear and clip.
The speedometer DRIVEN gear for your application is a blue, 20 tooth gear of GM #3987920 if your axle ratio is 3.36:1 or a natural, 19 tooth gear of GM #3987919 if your axle ratio is 3.08:1.
All of the above-referenced speedometer gears are available from GM.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
