Rechroming of plastic armrests

Does anyone have any experience with getting plastic parts such as armrests etc rechromed? Any recommendations and estimated cost? Thanks Len 39247

Len, Check the archives there was a post awhile back about this.
The guy did it mostly for Chevelle parts.
Search for chrome plastic.

I had my `62 Arm Rests done quite a few years ago by a Model Car hobbiest. I got the lead from a Plastic Model Store.

What you really want is...

Vacuum metalizing, which produces the "chrome" effect on most plastic interior trim. Mr G's does all sorts of custom work with plastic.

If I'm not mistaken, you can puchase NEW armrest bases for about $25 each; I can't imagine rechroming would be cheaper. I haven't had this service done, but email me and I can provide names/numbers of a few vendors.

Thanks Wayne: I think that is the way I will go. I will be going to the Carlisle event and I will see if I can,pick some up there. Len
