Both seat backs have play around the pivot bolts. The pivot bolts look correct when compared to a picture in the Corvette Central catalog, and there are washers between the side rail and the seat, but I'm not sure if they are correct seat pivot bolt washers. Do the seat pivot bolt washers have any function other than to act as spacers? Specifically, I wonder if the seat pivot bolt washers are shaped to fill the annulus between the pivot bolt and the side rail, which would eliminate the play. If not, do the holes in the side rail elongate after time, causing the play?

Re: 64 seats
Jim:
A couple of years ago I had noticed quite a bit of play in the seat backs on my '64 as well. I would retighten the bolts only to have the seat back "play" reappear again in a short time.
I took the seats out, which is quite easy. I noticed that the threads on the bolts had become stripped a bit and would not hold well with the threaded nut that is inside the seat bottom. I can only assume this happened over time from using the seats. I purchased new bolts and washers. I have not had any trouble with the seat backs since.
I purchased the replacement bolts and washers from Long Island Corvette Supply. As I recall, they were about $10.- Top
