Rich,The concave side of the lens faces the driver/steering wheel. You'll have to be more specific regarding the plastic seal in the steering column.Regards,Kieran #11373

65 judging guide says " Check to ensure lenses are installed correctly with the concave (depression) side in"

          Rich,

I believe both replys are attempting to say the same thing. To avoid having to remember concave vs. convex...install the lens such that the distance from the center of the lens to the driver (when sitting in the seat) is at it's maximum.

          Good luck,
          Ed

Only exception is '67 U15 Speed Warning - they have plastic lenses in the tach and speedo (instead of glass), and they're semi-conical conVEX to the driver.

John,Are you sure there is an exception to the '67 with speed-minder? I have such a car and prior to having the dash removed and repaired, the plastic lenses were in the same orientation as the non-U15 cars.I believe the Vette Vues fact Book by Dobbins shows it pretty well... When the cluster was returned, the tach needle did rub on the lens; I assumed that the needle length of the replacemnet tach mechanism was shorter on the U15 cars, and that the General only provided one sevice replacement part,so everyone started flipping the lenses around to correct the rub.Any thoughts? Kieran -

Noland's book describes the convex plastic lenses, as does the '67 TM&JG; the link below is a photo of the cluster in Dobbins' personal '67 U15 car, and the reflections show the convex lens shapes pretty clearly.

John,Thanks for the information and the photo. I guess the cluster needs to come out again to reverse the lenses. Oh well, its all up hill after you drop the a/c ducts! Thanks again,Kieran #11373
