I have recently observed two rear springs, on supposedly F41 equipped cars, that had spring bands. I was under the impression that no bands were used on any of the transverse rear springs. Am I correct or was the seven leaf spring different?

Re: No Bands
Mike and John----
I agree. No end bands were ever used on a PRODUCTION F-41 rear leaf spring. The bands are common on aftermarket replacement springs, though. Also, they are common on "reproduction" springs produced by the GM Restoration Parts licensee. But, they were NEVER, EVER present on the PRODUCTION parts. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: If you remove the bands
Most of the time, no.
The liners are not correct, the color of the spring is (often) not correct, and the ends of the leaves have a different configuration than original.
