    73 oringinal aluminum wheels

I know this has been kicked around before, but there is a set on E-Bay item #2407083996 today, and this add further states 500 sets of this type wheel left the factory. My understanding is only 4 sets made it out. What or whom is correct here assuming the wheels on E-Bay are authentic? For a starting bid of $3,200.00 this guy must have something.

Maybe he'd be willing to trade for a half dozen $500. dipsticks?

I think he's got something alright, but I can't say what it is since this is a Family Atmosphere discussion board.

I think he's full of something too. But then, that's just status quo for eBay.

He does not even give a part number or a picture. Talk about buying an expensive pig in a poke Could be that 500 sets were available but only 4, apparently, made it out the door. The rest were more then likely available through GM parts counters.

Who would want them? Only the owners of those four that made it out of the factory would ever have any need for them.

I asked how he could authenticate them and his reply was " I have the VIN # of the car"... Who knows? And no I did not ask him for the VIN #, as he most likely would not give it to me.

More important here is the sellers insistance on 500 sets leaving the factory. No, I do not have a set, but was curious about the number delivered. A gentleman here on this site was going to do some research and publish, what he thinks or has evidence of in relation to the number of these wheels that were actually delivered in 73. Hoping for this person to reply, and/or investigate this sale.

          cheers

            Part Number

Ask him for the part number on the wheel. The 73 was 329381. The next use of the aluminum wheel was in '76 and that # was 363768; in '77 it was 465252.
