This is probably a dumb question, but here goes. Is there any way, or does anybody repair the 63 expansion tanks, where the outlet pipes which were pressed onto the tank, come loose and leak?

Re: 63 expansion Tank
the overflow nipple was swedged(spelling) into tank, not welded like later C-2's and they commonly become detached. If its a daily driver , have it welded by competent welder. If its to be judged, buy repo from Dewitt. Its and excellent replacement and thy can stamp date it .good luck mike mccagh- Top

Re: 63 expansion Tank
If you go for a correct, dated repro, I believe DeWitts offers the swaged version for '63, but they place a reinforcement weld on the inside. (Verify this with Tom.) This should keep the nipple from working loose, and it won't be detected during judging.
I had to have my '63 tank repaired by welding the nipple in about 1966. I doubt if many '63s have the original tank that hasn't either been repaired or replaced.
