1961 T10 transmission

I have a '61 vette,vin # 10867S103122 and need to find the correct transmission.According to the ncrs judging book they used an iron case/aluminum tail shaft up to vin #2400.My car was built I believe 11/23/60.All the trans rebuilders I have talked to claim they used iron/aluminum T10's until december of 1960,all aluminum after January 1961!What is correct?

Your car was built during a period when, possibly, either transmission case-type could have been used. However, I feel pretty confident that yours originally had a cast iron case. I think that the NCRS VIN for the change of 2400 is about right.

My VIN #4587 with a build date of January 11, 1960 has an all aluminum T-10 transmission. With the history of the car and the casting numbers on the transmission I believe it to be the original.

Sorry, the build date of the car is January 11, 1961, not 1960.
