Anyone have experience replacing the foil label on a compressor and typing in the code #? Is there a date code cast into the end plate for a 1972 A-6 compressor? Thanks!

Many guys have posted about this. Typing the label isn't the problem -- ink is -- it will come right off the aluminum label. I had good luck using a light coat of clear urethane paint once I got everything typed. It has held up very well after two years. I suspect a NCRS judge would not like it as it is a bit more glossy than original. But you can read the correct label demarcations and the ink didn't come off.
Perhaps others have a better approach. But this worked for me.

Re: 72 A/C Compressor Label
I have had success using a laser printer. It does not wipe off and has been judged several times. Ink jet print will wipe off unless it is sealed. The other way is to find an OLD typewriter. It will emboss the label and the ink stays on for a long time.- Top
