I'm wondering if the rear shocks I just installed in my 1970 Corvette are correct. I bought them from The Last Detail and after painting and installing them, the fender height has gone up about 4-5 inches! The part numbers are 1#12352905 and 1#500-81. I assume the first is GM # and the second AC-Delco #. Can anyone help decipher whether these are correct for my application? If incorrect, which ones should I have received? I ordered the Standard HD GM shock absorber.

The shocks that you have, Delco #500-81, are a proper 63-82 Corvette replacement rear shock, although I do not recommend these particular shocks for a Corvette. In any event, there is no way that these shocks will significantly alter your ride height. I strongly suspect that either you haven't moved the car after setting it down from the jack(in which case your rear suspension has not "settled" to its normal configuration) or, somehow, you haven't installed the shocks correctly. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: SHOCKing
Joe,
Thanks for confirming the shocks are in fact for Corvette application. You were right, I have not moved the car since letting it off the jack stands. Hopefully it will settle into the correct ride height when I completely bleed the brakes this weekend.
