    Folding Top Rear Deck

One more paint color question if I may. The hinges and springs for the rear deck should be body color? Also, the two latches at the front where the lid latchs, are they natural, ie, without any paint color?
Again, many thanks for the expertise.

    Dave -

All of those items were in place when the body was painted.

As John stated, all the items in question were installed prior to paint. Coverage of the hinge and springs was mostly just overspray. They painted the deck lid but made no attempt to paint the hinge, springs, etc. below the lid iteslf. The triangular stainless latch "striker" on the fender just above the catch was installed after paint, as were the guide blocks. The guide block backing plates(the metal plates the blocks are actually secured to) and associated rivets were installed prior to painting.

My 66 roadster is an AO Smith body. Earlier threads advised that the springs were painted with zinc chromate (green anti corrosion primer). Thus, I painted mine as such and they were in place when my deck lid was painted so we they received some color overspray. Don't know about the spring finish on St. Louis bodies - I seem to remember a black primer.

As were the lever, cable and latches. *NM*
