New to this board. I am trying to find a 1972 convertible that I sold about 1991 for various reasons (wife new child closed business etc) I didn't restore it but resurrected it(no motor, trans interior, definitly non matching #s). Sold in New Orleans to someone from Missippi ( I think). Details are :'72 big block(454) 4 sp, air,at that time it was a dove grey exterior with a red interior, no real mods, pretty original looking. I have a partial VIN 1Z67W2S52?0?1 I think the first ? is a 5(insurance papers say and the second ? is a 2. If anyone knows its whereabouts or can help me locate it it would be appreciated. I would like to purchase the car back. If I can't locate this car if anyone knows of a '70-'72 nice convertible with air, prefer 4 spd,for sale let me know. Thanks for any help.

Re: need help locating '72 vette
There is a nice couple from the New Orleans area who purchased a grey 72 454
convertible about 1-1/2 yrs ago. They live 1 hour north of new orleans. I have
their names somewhere in my car show notes. Their car I think has black interior.
It is completely stock recently restored. I will get you their names etc. sometime soon, when I can look for them. Just e-mail about once a month as a
reminder. Sory for the delay. I own a 72 originalowner, all stock, 2nd flight
Feb.2003, I just got a call from the repair shop yesterday that while they
were replacing the heater core; that my under the dash area caught on fire.
Damage is to the duct work. Shop says it was due the radio shorting out.
I saw the car yesterday and I think the shop left a trouble light in the car
it it caused the fire. Grundy Insurabe adjuster is coming out on Monday.
Shop said car was not runnibg when fire started. I had a fast idle problem
that was to be checked, I think it was running.
If anyone reads this fire story, I CANT STRES TO STRONGLY, USE YOUR BATTERY
DISCONNECT EVERYTIME YOUR CAR IS NOT IN USE.
I am trying to sell my house due to a relocation, and if is was a short I
very easily could have picked up the car to drive home on the interstate and
the car would be toast, or worse parked in my garage without a smoke detector
my whole house could have gone up in smoke.
USE cutoff, smoke detectors, leave windows down about a inch or two so smoke
would show up before flames. Shop said they say flames in my cabin area.
QUESTION-- Do I just let the adjuster do his investigation and not say anything
or do I speak up and explain the shop has been very evasive on repairs in the
past. I f I get a Insurabce settlement to repair it, do I let this shop fix it
since they alone know what maybe really happened, or do I tow it to someone else
who doesn't have a clue what caused the fire.
Radio looks and harness look really normal, no cooked wires can be seen so far.
I told the shop owner, Mr.know-It-All, to not touch anything, of course he has
already move the radio, and cluster over to the left, to look for the source.
