Are there any washers or lock washers required under the intake manifold screws that hold it to the heads??? I have a cast iron single 1x4. Thanks!

There were never any washers originally used at this location and the bolts were non-flanged head, too. For cast iron manifold applications like yours, you don't really need washers (or, alternatively, flanged head bolts). However, if you are not concerned about originality, I recommend the use of flanged head bolts as were originally used on big blocks.
For aluminum manifold applications, I recommend the use of an "AN" type washer under the bolt. This provides functional benefit without being too obvious. Otherwise, for aluminum manifold applications where strict originality is not important, I'd use flanged head bolts. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
