Re: C2 French Locks
Scott-----
Yes, they're still available from GM under GM #14081241. However, these pieces are configured a bit differently than the originals used on your car. The originals used for 66-82 were GM #3880844.
You can obtain reprodcutions of the originals from most Corvette vendors. Many of these are made out of stainless steel. The originals weren't but stainless is the way to go. The original mild steel rusts almost immediately and then it's no longer "original".
The locks are used only on the 2 end bolts on each end of the manifold or 4, total, per car. Bolt torque for the end bolts is 20 lb/ft. The 2 bolts in the center of each side are torqued at 30 lb/ft.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C2 French Locks
Scott... My belief: When you get all ready to lock the bolts in place, you will notice 1 lock tab will line up better than the other on the hex flat of each bolt. This is because the tabs are slightly offset. I believe they only bent over the tab that aligned the best and left the other unbent.- Top

Re: They are now called Freedom Locks!!!
Hey guys and gals..
Hope we don't have to revert to politics on this board.
There's thousands of active men and women abroad who have parked their Corvettes with anticipation of getting back to enjoy the things we like the most.
"CORVETTE" was an 18th century French, or should I say "freedom" warship long before it became a Chevrolet on 4 wheels.
Peace for us all.- Top
