    Rarity of "Nevada Silver" LT-1

I am curious as to when, or where someone has seen a NEVADA SILVER '71 LT-1??? Coupe or roadster, but preferably a roadster...!!! ?? I haven't seen one since 1972...!!!

    I loved mine...

I had a Nevada Silver '71 LT-1 coupe for about 5 years until Sept. 1979 when, on the only day I drove it that year, someone went through a red light and drove over the nose. The guy's name was Clinton Pendarves, (I'll never forget that name because it's the only scratch I've ever put in a car). I only drove it because my beater wouldn't start when it was damp out. I had an important appointment and it was a perfect day so I figured 'what the hell'.

The car was completely original except gas, oil, plugs and tires and had 13,400 miles at the time. It had been spec'ed for dealer stock by a gearhead salesman who ordered most of the ZR-2 package as separate options in order to (he claimed) still get the radio.

It was sold to a very nice and truly rich couple in Westchester County, NY ('once you are in our driveway, make the third right') who kept it in a heated garage under one of their guesthouses. They sold it to me because their son was getting his license and they knew they wouldn't be able to keep him off it. The woman said the salesman told her it was a 'special model'. She said she had thought that meant luxury, not speed.

A friend went to look at it with me. He walked down the left side, I walked down the right. We met at the nose emblem and he said,, "If you don't take it, I will." I took it for the asking price ($5500). It was so obviousy mint that I never opened the hood or looked underneath until I got it home. Including small-talk, we were there for less than 10 minutes.

Only 'flying *****' body-style I've ever owned but I loved it. Most well-mannered Corvette I ever drove (until C5). I should have fixed it and kept it but I was too hung up on 'no hit, original paint' cars at the time to even consider it so I sold the hulk to a friend.

I also always loved the color and have never seen another one either. Plate was 892-IFD, NJ if you want to try to get the VIN. I can scan and eml pix if you're not in any sort of hurry. I even have a pic of the tach reading 5000 and the speedo reading 100 which I took because I always thought the double/half speedo/tach readings with 4.11s and 15" tires were cool.

        Re: I loved mine...

Jeff; I loved your story! I own two (2) LT-1 Corvettes, a 1970 Cortez Silver coupe, and a 1972 Pewter Silver convertible; the '72 has most recently undergone a complete restoration, and by the way, I was able to relocate and re-purchase the car after owning it as new...!!! More friends are completely blown away by this turn of fortunate events. I had a good buddy who bought a new '71 Nevada Silver convertible LT-1 and I always thought it was a GREAT color and have NEVER seen one since...??? Let me know if you think you have enough data to do a trace. Having just successfully completed one, I have a pretty good read on how to do it... Best regards, Jeff B.
