    C1 TIE ROD END TORQUE

I can not find the torque specs for the tie rod end nuts on my 1961. I looked in the AIM but could not find them. Thanks for the help, Joe DeLuca #37862

    Joe -

It doesn't show in the '61 A.I.M. or the ST-12, but I have lots of later GM A.I.M.'s, and all show 30-40 lb-ft. for tie rod end nuts.

Aside from getting them pretty darn tight, I find cotter key alignment becomes more the controlling factor than exact torque.

And I agree with Dennis. Since the tie rod bolt is a taper fit, just nice and tight, and then align the cotter pin hole.
