This may be a dumb question, but how do you attach dust shields on inner fender skirt with the new staples ? Do I use a special stapler with a very long throat, to clear the material ? And who carries the best alternate pieces, other than NOS ?

Re: Dust shield staples
Where possible, I line up the new dust shield in place, and clamp it in location. Then use a small drill to drill thru the original holes from the wheelhouse thru the new dust shield. If possible I try to save the original staples, and after pushing them thru the new holes drilled in the shield, I use a combination of needle nose pliers and body dolley-hammer to finish the job. Remember to use steel staples, (not stainless) and paint the edge of the shield and staples with undehood blackout paint. Use your old shields for comparision. as there were differences in configurations over the years "NOS" parts are usually the '67 design and not 100% correct for earlier cars.Bill Clupper #618- Top
