    Body prep for paint

I have had a few discussions lately as to the "BEST" or "Correct" preparartion that can be done to a stripped body (down to bare fiberglass) to remove any oils or resins before the lacquer primer and paint is applied. This body was submerged in water in a garage during a flood. I would appreciate anyone's comments on this subject.

Gee Whizz John, Hate to jump out and give an opinion, BUT: Strip to bare glass, wipe down w/lacquer thinner. Paint w/2-3 coats of Mortins 100 Eliminator. Sand, paint w/lacquer or whatever someone has talked you into.

      Dennis,
This product sounds like Evercoat's slick sand, a catalyzed Polyester surfacer.
Does it do a good job of sealing the glass to moisture? I've installed some Corvette Image panels on my car and they insist that you seal them with Gel Coat to prevent paint from blistering. Apparently they have had some problems with mold release being absorbed into the glass and later coming out when the car sits in the sun.
