I have been using a DA for years to refinish antique wooden boats----my "other" hobby----and they do a marrrrvelous job of sanding wood prior to varnishing AND then sanding in between varnished coats.

DA's and Corvettes work go together just fine, but you can't use them like you do on a steel bodied car. As long as you watch the layers as you proceed, and are careful on peaks, I like them better than chemicals and have tried both...CraigComment

Every body has their favorite but I like the jel strippers, I am stripping an 87 Vette with flake in it right now and it takes just a little more time and material for the jel to work around the flake. If you have a Standard Brands paint store nearby get their Zynolite stripper for fiberglass NOT metal stripper, it is a thick jel that is easy to work with in about 20 inch squares at a time, paint it on with a paint brush in the shade and wait a couple minutes the paint will wrinkle then scrape it off with a plastic scraper and/or a metal putty knife if you do not dig into the glass. It does not cut the original primer completely and if you accidently get it on yoyrself or something else have a hose nearby and just flood it with water which stops the chemical action. I have stripped 10 vettes with it and there is no residue after washing it down and light sanding.
