    1965-66 Power Antenna

Can anyone tell me if a 1965-66 power antenna is date coded, and if so, in what format is it and where is it located?
    Thanks,
    Jim

I think the answer is 'yes' it's date coded, but 'no' it can't be read/judged...

The motor that runs the antenna mast up/down is essentially the same as the headlight bucket motor. These ARE dated.

But, once the power antenna is assembled, the entire assy was dipped in bee's wax to moisture seal the assy. So, the only way to read/detect dating characteristics is via destructive disassembly which is part of a professional restoration process....

agree with jack that headlight motors were date coded and since the antennae motors are similiar, they too are probably date coded. The ones i've dissambled weren't dipped in beeswax but rather a beeswax colored plastic type material. Whatever they are dipped in, OEM has the material.

Yes, they are. The two that I have

          show "8 - 64" and "3 - 65" and "5045511"; there is also a large capital "A"
stamped in the area, plus a yellow ink stamp in a circle that I assume is an inspector's mark.

            Loren,
Can you tell me where the date codes are located on these antenna? Likewise, where is this other code you refer to? My antenna has the yellow beeswax type covering, so I might not be able to see any of these codes, but I'd like to at least know where they are located.
            Thanks,
            Jim
