I'm finishing my 62 and ready to start. My left turn signal is dim and temp gauge crosses over all the way right when key is turned on. Can anyone help regarding proper grounding. I read the earlier message re: similar, but I'm confused with grounding wire and starter bolt. I have a ground from firewall to valve cover bolt and a Black & White wire from steering side firewall and it won't reach starter bolt. New harnesses. Thanks, sorry to repeat same problem. Also, wiper motor runs constantly when key is turned on also. Totally confused!!

Re: C-1 Electrical
Don... The black & white wire coming into the engine compartment near the steering column is the wire that goes to the LH valve cover. The only ground wire that goes to your starter bolt is the negative battery cable. Wiper motor wanting to work is better than the alternative. Probably a boden cable adjustment. I'd unhook the 12 volts to it and deal with that issue after you have cleared up the others. After you hook black and white ground try things again. If temp acts the same, unhook at sender and see what gauge does. Could be sender is shot. Please better describe "left turn dim".- Top

Re: C-1 Electrical
Dennis, thank you for your great info. I had the black/white on the valve cover originally, but thought I was wrong. Does the black wire from the firewall next to resistor go to left side valve cover? The left side parking lamp is dim (much less than right lamp). The right side is bright with no problems. I painted horns, possible bad ground, but I made sure star washer was tight with no results. The lamp is dim with engine running or not- Top

Re: C-1 Electrical
OK Don, Next step: When you say black wire from next to resistor - that sounds like the black ground wire from the wiper motor mounting plate that would go to the right hand valve cover (passenger side). Same valve cover screw where the radio would ground. Your dim/bright park/turn signal situation could stem from switching the wires on one of them. In other words, you may have the turn signal wire hook to the park light and visa - versa. The turn signal is much brighter than the park light. This is caused by the bulb. Check your color codes on the wires on both sides. Never give up...- Top

Re: C-1 Electrical
I have had personally a set of repro park/turn lamps that were not correctly wired and had the result you indicate. Check the turn signal on the "dim" parking light and also the turn signal on the "Bright" parking light and see if the stiuation reverses iteslf. If so, you can switch the wires in the connector to the main harness to obtain the correct performance. Both low in PK, Bright in Turn.Bill Clupper #618- Top
