    C2 soft top frame

Bought a soft top a couple of years ago and am finally ready to install it on my 65. Cleaned and painted the frame and bolted it on the car but something is radically wrong with the left side. The right side fits the door and window perfectly. The left side isn't even close. I've studied it for a long time but cannot really tell what the problem is. I suspect it was in a collision.

It's extremely clean, no rust, and in very nice condition but totally usesless like this. Is there a place I can send it to be repaired? Thanks for your help......Paul

Can you post a picture of it? Is there any posibillity that one of the arms or linkage is installed improperley? or is the wrong one?

When I first bought my 66 I could never align the front bumpers.I spent hours on it trying to get them straight. It ended up being that the brackets were reversed the left was on the right and the right was on the left.I flipped them around and now its almost perfect.Any one local with a car you can compare how they look?

i haven't restored many C1 sort top frames that didn't require some bending here or there to get good fit of weatherstrip to Door glass frame. Most are bent by owners forcing unlubricated tops into the storage well. They usually are pretty east to straighten out. may have to use a little of the "hot wrench" though> good luck mike

        Paul,

I don't know from your post how far it is off but there is adjustment for the door, side vent, and side window. If you find that there isn't anything wrong with the top I'd consider these adjustment points.

          Re: C2 soft top frame

I've got the typical bent soft top frame over the windows on my '62. I'm not prepared to replace the top right now, but I'd like to replace the weatherstrip and make everything fit better. After I free and lube everything, of course.

Were you able to straighten these pieces while they were on the car and with the top attached?

            Chris,
If you have a NCRS CD or Restorer Vol 14 # 4 there is an article on repairing the
C-1 convertible frame with the problem you discussed.
