What were some of the brands of tires used when you ordered whitewalls on a 1965 Corvette and is it possible to find NOS versions?

Re: 1965 Tires
the judging manual lists all the tire manufactures that supplied tires for the 65's. You can get a 65 manual from the mortimers in cinncy, their # is on page 2 of the restorer or in the back of a driveline. Yes , you can buy NOS tires but they really aren't too safe nearly 40 years after being produced. and they are real salty if you buy em from a knowledgable vet dealer. suppose you might luck out and find an old set at a tire shop but its unlikely as it was a popular size back in the 60's and 70's .Coker and Kelsey both repo tires for your 65 and if you are creative, the DOT designation can disappear and the coding can be changed but its a lot of work for just a few points you'll loose with non-molested repos good luck mike- Top

Re: 1965 Tires
Rick:
Do not buy NOS tires if you have ANY intention of driving your car---even if it means blowing the cobwebs out of your exhaust, and/or rolling the tires to prevent flat spots. If your car is STRICTLY a museum piece, and you will never roll it, then NOS tires are for you.
That being said, the available whitewalls for 1965 were manufactured by BF Goodrich, Firestone, Goodyear, and Uniroyal. As long as you do not need goldlines, then any of these manufacturers will provide correctly branded and configured (with the exception of DOT coding) reproductions. If you need goldlines, then that is an entirely different situation.

Dennis Clark: New to the hobby, huh? Who instructed you in the fine art of nitrous concealment. Shame on you Dipstick. The missile of Md has scrupples (and the tols to loose "embarassing " features of a repo part) later, mike- Top
