    C1 Third arm bearing

Does anyone know the how to get a new bearing for the steering and third arm shaft,Gm part #954839. Parts book Section 6.181 lists (ND 5506TY 1E). How about a crossover number to a present manufacture? Thanks Steven

    Steven,
The original New Departure bearing # was 5206. This is a generic bearing # and can be crossreferenced to several manufacturers at your local bearing house.
The original bearing was sealed only on the outside and the inside of the third arm was packed with grease. I allways buy double sealed bearings and forget about packing the cavity with grease. Bearings have come a long way in 40 years, and a good double sealed bearing should last almost forever in this application.
