66 427 ignition shielding top insulator

What is the correct way of installing an insulator in the top cover of a 66 427 ignition shield?

Originals were put on with yellow type weatherstrip adhesive in a 'quick & dirty' fashion. No two will probably look EXACTLY alike, but the glue is typically in an S-like pattern in the shield before the insulator was 'squashed' into place....
