It depends whether you're talking about a manual transmission or an automatic. Here's why: 1979 was the first year that a removable transmission crossmember was used for both manual and automatic transmissions. So, considering this, the only other Corvette that uses a frame exactly the same as all 1979's is 1978 with automatic transmission. 1978 with manual transmission is the same and functionally interchangeable (for a 79 with manual transmission) except that it has a welded-in crossmember. 1980-82 used a different frame.
Other year frames may be adaptable to 1979 with significant modifications.
