    1970 Valve Covers

Just bought a 1970 COrvette with 350/300 engine, matching numbers. The Valve covers have M/T in raised letters on them with long chrome bolts. I am sure that these are not original even though the valve covers say Chevrolet on them. What should the original covers look like? Painted chevy orange? Thanks in advance for the help.

Originals for base SB are stamped steel painted Chevy orange. Easy to come by from a local scrap yard, figure $10-20/pair, as they're the same as used on Chevy passenger car V8 for '70. Beware subtile changes in '71, '72 dealing with where and how many 'clips' are welded to the side for holding TCS/CEC solenoid wiring harness when you go to get a set--you want valve covers from a '70 Chevy V8.... Suspect somebody did a 'dress up' with the valve covers you've got now--not an atypical move!
