To my knowledge the original installation did not use washers on the 10 studs and or under the head of the two bolts; which are used under the fuel lines.

      Dan and Kelley------

Yes, the carb mounting nuts or bolts originally used no washers. A lot got added later, though

The rear lower (exhaust) panel was not attached by rivets. It was attached by bolts and nuts. The heads of the upper bolts (more-or-less hidden by the bumper)were not painted as the panel was installed already painted.

agree with dan and joe re Q#1--no flat washers on carb attaching nuts for the 67-69 tripower carbs. Wouldn't have been a bad idea to use them but i guess the bean counters at GM in the late 60's didn't want to spend the extra one or two mills it would have cost. mike

thanks for the carb data, the question was the rear exhaust panel is held on by bolts but the nut plates were riveted on the rear quarter section and were they , meaning the nutplates riveted on the body then painted or were they riveted on after the body paint process ? so did the rivet heads get a coat of paint and primer

They would have been installed before the body was assembled, so if anything got paint they would too.
