'67 Blower fan control switch/cable assembly

I have discovered that the insulator board on the back of the dash mounted blower switch is cracked. It doesn't look like a very sturdy design to begin with, since the vent control cable passes right through the centre of the insulator board. The switch appears to be an original and has the name "INDAY" stamped on the metal switch housing. None of the parts supplier catalogs I have lists this as an available part. (however some catalogs do say, "ENQUIRE") Gulp ! Does this mean they are unavailable, except as NOS ? Any ideas as to the cost of these switch / cable assemblies ? I am hoping that someone out there can tell me where I can buy a replacement, especially if my 5 minute epoxy repair to the board doesn't hold.

    Thanks in advance.

Have faith! Your epoxy repair should work well. Today's printed circuit board technology is ususally G-10 material (fiberglass) and epoxy is a beautiful repair medium.

Can't comment on availability of switch assy, but there's always a way to skin the cat (swap meets, used parts, Etc.). From the movie "Operation Petticoat" -- "In confusion, there is profit", Tony Curtis. Bide your time and the part will appear at an acceptable price....

        Hi Mr. Jewett!

Truly you have asked about one of the holy grails of mid-year salvage. I stripped a wrecked 1967 in 1994 and unfortunately this piece was gone...

I believe these were still available until perhaps the early 1980s. Insofar as I know, all 1963-7 use an identical piece. No reproduction currently exists; the only source is used. Bring a deep wallet - the last I know of (used) sold for about $200. Should you require one Mr. Marcell (713) 441-2111 or 2211 (in Houston, TX) had one a few years back.

        Good luck!

        Carl

            Thanks Guys...

Ouch ! $ 200 US for a used switch, that's like over 300 of our Northern Pesos (Canadian). Yes Jack, for that much cash I am counting on the epoxy working...I'm letting it sit undisturbed for about a week to become fully cured. I was hoping to spend that $ 200 US on new carpets... Well there are worse things to spend money on...

Now that I'm on the home stretch with that A/C heater core replacement job, at some point I plan to write a complete report for the discussion board so everyone else out there contemplating the job can learn from my experience (and mistakes). It really wasn't THAT bad. Patience, care and persistence were the keys. The only part that was damaged was of course the blower switch.. Oh yes, to secure the new firewall insulation pad, I used an aerosol glue from 3M...it worked very well and is good for carpets (that's next on the to do list)

            Thanks again for your responses.
