    69 oil pressure gauge

    Hello everybody,

I've got a little problem installing a new oil pressure gauge and oil line in my 69 big block convertible.

After installing, there is air in the system. Is this correct or should I fill the oil pressure gauge with motor oil?

In the old oil line there was oil dripping out.

    Thank you very much

    Re: 69 oil pressure gauge

When I put a new oil pressure line on my 70 when I installed a new GM ZZ1 crate engine. It guage worked on engine start up. Based on my experience, no pruging of air in the line is necessry, it will self adjust.

I've had my 70 guage out several times and found air in the line that comes up from the block. Be careful about breaking that line. If it does break, you can cut the line shorter and get new copper ferrules ( the piece under the nut)from the local auto parts store.

I also replasced the oil line and gauge. I ran the engine until oil filled the line then shut it down and attached to the guage. Never purged it and it works fine.

            Klaus -

No bleeding/purging required - just connect it at both ends and you're good to go.
