Convertible Top Weatherstrip

I am about to tackle replacement of my 64's soft top. Is it necessary to replace the weatherstripping at the same time? Would there be a lot of duplicated effort if the weatherstripping was left to another time? Does the Al Knoch video cover replacement of the weatherstripping, or only the soft top itself?

Replacing a top is a separate operation from weatherstrip replacement. I would think that the condition of your WS would be the detereming factor in whether or not you wanted to replace the WS or not. I did my 66 WS on the car with very little difficulty. All I did was remove and replace, one at a time. That way, I did not have left over parts and didn't have to worry about which screw went where. I do not think that it would have been easier with the top off. I had a small piece of WS at the back of the top that had rusted the inner metal support so badly that I wound up drilling an tapping the screw hole. The rubber was bonded to this small metal tab and it had rusted to dust. This was a relatively easy task.
