C4 PROBLEMS

Hi,
I have owned a 1986 Indy pace car for about a year, second owner, 31,000 miles. I'm having problems with the 4+3 overdrive unit. Here's my problem!

When it does kick into overdrive, it may stay in O/D or kick right back out. It sometimes never kicks into O/D, then the next time work perfectly. I can click the shifter button and nothing happens, time after time, then all of the sudden it kicks in. It may stay engaged for 10 seconds or 30 miles. The O/D switch has been replaced twice and no help!

Does anyone here know of a cure or anything to check out for? IT's DRIVEN ME CRAZYYYYYYYYY.

I remember that there was considerable trouble with the early C4's regarding the Noug Nash 4+3. The thing had a penchant for "hunting", or dropping in and out of OD for no good reason--main reason I bought my '85 with the 700R4. Your "problem" MIGHT be considered normal.
You want to contact Gordon Killebrew, who is the current guru on C4 electronics. I have no contact information, but I am sure that someone on this board does.

go to google and type in "doug nash 4+3" and you will find lots of sites about the trans
