will a 7 inch rim and a 225-70-15 on a 67 vette have any clearance promblems? Also does anyone know, if an american racing (torq-thrust D)will fit? the company said there(may)be a caliper clearance problem.thanks for any help rich h

Rich - search the archives for several threads on the Torq-Thrust Wheels and caliper clearance. The current units have a clearnace problem if I recall correctly. On the tire size, with the normal offset on the rally wheel or the aluminum bolt ons, most folks say the maxiumum size tire is 215 versus 225, and you may still have fender clearance issues if you say hit a driveway entrance and jounce the front when you are turned at hard lock on the steering...Craig -

A 7" '68 Corvette Rally Wheel (-0.28") offset WILL NOT fit a C2 with 225/70R-15s without t******* the horizontal fender well lips, and I don't recommend this on a car that is still very original.
A 215/70R-15 WILL fit the fenders on the OEM '67 6" Rally or 6" KO/bolt-ons and the pick of the litter in this size is the W-rated Pirelli P4000 Super Touring. It's only available in blackwall styling. At full lock there might be some slight interference with the steering gear carriage bolt heads and with the fender lip if the suspension goes into signficant jounce, so be careful entering steep driveways.
The 6" Corvette wheels all have +0.060 offset, and that would include the adapters on KOs. The 7" rallys have negative offset to gain sufficient clearance with the end of the rear spring (8" Rallys require even more negative offset, -0.50"), so this precludes their use on Midyears due to outside fender clearance problems unless you used such a low profile tire that your car looks like a lowrider, and such a tire would have insufficient load capacity.
The currently manufactured TTDs do not to have sufficient clearance for disk brake cars according to most reports. The are available in both 6" and 7" widths, so offset and tire size will have to be carefully considered/calculated/prototyped to assure clearance.
There is another company - PS Engineering as I recall - that makes a wheel essentially identical to the TTD, and my understanding is that is does clear disk brakes. You should be able to find their web site on any search engine.

------If you really want a seven inch rally wheel there is a solution.The 68 7 inch Corvette rally has that extra inch over 67 added to the outside.There is a Monte Carlo 1970,71,72 rally that has the extra inch added to the inside of the wheel instead.Clearance on the inside is OK with this wheel unless you use an extra fat tire.The great part of using this wheel is that from almost any angle you cant tell that there is a wider wheel on there.You use the same 67 trim ring,and it fits and looks exactly the same as the stock six inch rim.
