During my PV attempt at Stone Mountain I got a bit excited and was over 7000 on the 90% of red line test. From that point the car would not hold an idle. I have replaced the primary power valve and checked every push rod to make sure none were bent. The car starts but will only run at about 1500 rpm and over. Based on this limited description of the problem is there any idea on how to diagnose my wounded pride and joy? I'm guessing a compression check but any other ideas?

Re: 66 BB Won't idle after PV attempt
A complete visual/functional check of the ignition map is in order - initial, vacuum, and centrifugal advance. Also, check all vacuum and PCV lines for leaks.
BTW, did you pass the PV? I get a kick out of your "irrational exuberance" on the power check. I still recall the night that I installed the K-66 in my SWC from the "12-mile L-88" back in '67. The owner, Steve, went for the test drive, and as the revs passed by 6000 he drew his knees up. I started laughing. By that time I had hit a solid 6500, so I shifted into second and backed off. Steve - a rock solid 250 pound weight lifter was babbling about how flywheels are known to blow up. I did a couple more 6500 rev checks and laughed all the way home!
Was seven grand enough to get your "black hat" to break out in a sweat?
