Does a '72 Corvette mastercylinder have bleeders on it? This is a "346" unit "power brake" master cylinder dated "2118 YG". Would this be 211th day of '68 OR 118th day of '72? It does have the machined "halfmoon" cutout in front, but with NO STAMP OR LETTERS there at all. Thanks, Paul Borowski #26140

Re: '72 Master Cylinder Question...
Paul,
Yes, a 1972 power brake MC has bleeders. See mine in the picture here:

In addition, my car has the half moon area, and the appropriate codes are stamped there. Beware, however, that they are VERY lightly stamped. It took a lot to find them. In real life my MC isn't as rusty as it may appear.
I think your date code interpretation is likely correct, but that one I'm not as sure about.

Re: '72 Master Cylinder Question...
Paul and Patrick----
The date code, "2118", indicates, for master cylinders, the 118th day of 1972.
All 1972 original Corvette master cylinders had the bleeder valves. All or most of 1973 had them, too. From that point on, for PRODUCTION and most SERVICE 67-73 master cylinders, the bleeders disappeared. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
